Syfy has renewed The Magicians for a 5th season consisting of another 13 episodes.
Season 4 premieres tomorrow night.

I can't look at the magicians the same way after reading Vita Nostra because it's such a knockoff and lev Grossman has been trying to get vita nostra published in english since around the same time the Magicians came out.

I need to catch up on the show. I'm now several seasons behind.

Did Grossman read Vita Nostra in the original language? I don't see how he could've ripped it off otherwise, b/c afaik the first English fan-translation didn't come out until later. I read the fan translation that was posted on Amazon in 2012 or so. I thought he was more accused of trying to make a more adult-oriented Harry Potter?

I haven't read the books, but I thought people said the show sorta did its own thing?

I'm strictly referring to the books in this case, and if google and the NYT can be believed, it's inferred he can read russian and is a russian literature snob. And it's been around in other languages for more than a decade.

The other books have nothing to do with vita nostra. One takes place on another planet.

But if Grossman wants to make himself useful, he can buy a bunch of copies of the new Harper Voyager English version with his TV money and lobby for the rest of the books in the series to be translated, too. XD

hah I just finished Vita Nostra myself and wew it was a WILD ride, but I loved it
