Actresses have been questioned about why they worked with Woody Allen, but OP wants to know why do these men not get questioned/have to answer the same questions as their female counterparts? So here is a partial list of actors who have worked with Woody Allen and have said nothing. Maybe next time they have any press to do they'll get asked, but I ( Read more... )

Woody Allen is an "esteemed" name in Hollywood so of course actors are going to work with him despite all the horrible things he's done. They just don't care as long as they get the chance to work with "THE" Woody Allen. It's bullshit and his movies aren't even good, like where is this "genius" that everyone keeps claiming to be in his style or filmmaking? BOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

I don't get why he's "esteemed" either. Besides Blue Jasmine, which only really got acclaim because of Cate's acting in it, he hasn't had a movie that critics raved about in DECADES

agree, all his movies look the same and all of them seem to have the same generic name like a night in new york

this is sort of a general comment but i have to scoff at the term genius in these contexts. it's so gendered (mostly always refers to a man) and it's used as an excuse to ignore shitty behavior and actions

i kind of want it to die

I was recently listening to a podcast about a movie (not one Woody Allen made) and they had an actor as a guest and they got on the topic of Woody Allen and only spared the briefest if asides for the whole ‚controversy‘ and then gushed about his movies and the guest expressed regret on not having been cast in one of his movies when he auditioned and talked about how amazing it was to meet Woody during the audition.

I could hardly believe my eyes. I hate podcasts that don‘t have any women on except like one I listen to. And even some with women will make exceptions if they‘re in the industry and then they‘ll pull a white feminist and trash talk Kevin Spacey but give James Gunn a pass because they know him personally.

This article says it way better than I could, but everything he writes is a variant of the same thing. Over and over again. Even putting aside that the same thing is creepy as all fuck... why would anybody see that as genius? He is the definition of a one trick pony.

I don't think I've genuinely really liked any of his movies that I've seen, including the ones I saw before I knew anything about him as a person. Like, I just don't get why people love them so much. I don't see it.
