Agreed. Jake Abel has said a couple of times, very recently I might add, that he'd be down to come back.

They keep occasionally remembering. But could you imagine John, Mary, Dean and Sam and ADAM in the same episode? The awkward silences alone. Lol. But they do need to close out that story, at least. Send him off to a normal life, hint that he’s training or hunting off somewhere or something. Or they could keep him and Jack and him could be friends (is Jack still alive?)

Yes! His story definitely needs closure. I've watched the show on and off over the years (more on than off, since the additions of Mary and Jack) and it's a plot point, or lack thereof, that's always bothered me. I think Jack is still alive, though I'm about four episodes behind, so who knows at this point? But I'd be totally down for some sort of buddy narrative between Jack and Adam. God knows Jake Abel could use the steady work.

I have very much wondered if this season is leading up to that - they've imported a Michael in from another world, Lucifer and Gabriel are now both dead so can't oppose him, how much longer before they remember their last archangel is still in the cage?

The only time they seem to remember is on anniversary episodes. So maybe he’ll get a mention. I could see Sam or Dean mentioning it and John saying ‘you’re just going to leave your brother down there?’ Or that’s my wishful thinking. But it’d be cool if that’s where it’s headed, with them finally getting the forgotten Winchester kid out of hell.
