tbh a tonne of hentai is incredibly creepy. full of super young looking girls being coerced or molested or raped (but they enjoy it so it's fine!). consent is huge question mark in a lot of hentai, and that's not even getting into things like drawn cp, bestiality etc

i get your point. i agree that the making of drawn/simulated porn isn't inherently bad, but the subject matter/effects of it still are incredibly harmful.

The thing with hentai and other drawn porn is that it normalizes a lot of shit like CP (the lolita/shota genre) and rape (a lot of hentai is about that, there is this genre called "chikan" or something like that that is about men who grope women on trains) so even if real people won't get hurt making it it Will change the person who sees it, like porn and it Will affect everyone, like porn.

definitely. I agree with you completely I was coming at it more from a production/making of standpoint. It's all harmful just this one medium doesn't harm women in the literal making of it. I guess it would be a similar thinking to the sex robot discussions where the end ultimately hurts irl women but the act of taking part itself doesn't. no one wins.

im torn on this. while what hentai can portray is often way worse than real filmed porn, i do think the fact that its animated is forced to place it firmly in "fiction". men can watch porn with a real woman and easily think what is happening there can be replicated in real life. but a cartoon is obviously not real. im not saying hentai is good, or not severely fucked up, but i do think that animated porn is a lesser evil in some cases.
