- Lois Smith, aka Gran from True Blood and Sister Sarah Joan from Lady Bird, has been cast in the new Wes Anderson film The French Dispatch.
- The film is set in Paris during the 1950's and follows a group of journalists at an American newspaper, and production is already underway. The cast includes Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton, Frances McDormand, Benicio del Toro, Jeffrey Wright & Timothée Chalamet. Smith's role is not yet known.
- Smith, who is 88 years old, made her film debut opposite James Dean in 1955's East of Eden. Though she's worked pretty steadily since then, she's been especially busy for the past few years, appearing in everything from Grace and Frankie to The Affair to a starring role in last year's Marjorie Prime.
