November 9, 2018 - Twilight director Catherine Hardwick says she initially pushed for diverse casting in the Twilight film, but author Stephanie Meyer resisted.
- Meyer's reasoning was that she had written the characters to have "pale glistening skin", and had envisioned them as being white in her mind.
- "I had all these ideas. And she just could not accept the Cullens to be more diverse, because [of how] she had really seen them in her mind."
