I’m sure this is a lie but! In my days of having only white friends in nowhere PA, and doing bonfires in the woods by the creek, it was not uncommon for them to get pissy ass drunk and do shit like jump the bonfire or walk over it or hide each other down with hairspray then goof off dancing on the burning logs.

But usually the guys, not the girls so much, and never the handful of token minorities, which probably should have tipped off all three of us that we didn’t belong. ;)

This was such a big thing during high school. Usually right at the end of football season. Juniors basically got an entire week off of school to build it. It was usually at a classmate’s house that had acres and acres of cow pasture. Some would build it while everyone else would drink.
It was fun... but there were always those gross old dudes in their 30s that would show up and try to flirt with high school girls by talking about how awesome school was in the ‘80s. Especially Smitty. Smitty showed up everywhere and his 17 year old girlfriend wanted to fight everyone for tryin’ ta steal ha man.
Good times. Even cops would come hang out.
