Freya Allan, Anya Chalotra, and Others Join Netflix's 'The Witcher'

  • Freya Allan (The War of the Worlds, Into The Badlands) has been cast as Ciri and Anya Chalotra (The ABC Murders, Wanderlust) has been cast as Yennefer. They join ONTD favorite Henry Cavill, who will be playing Geralt, as leads in Netflix's adaptation of The Witcher novels.
  • Others joining the cast are Jodhi May (Game of Thrones, Genius) as Queen Calanthe, Björn Hlynur Haraldsson (Fortitude) as her husband, the knight Eist; Adam Levy (Knightfall, Snatch) as Mousesack; MyAnna Buring as Tissaia; Mimi Ndiweni and Therica Wilson-Read as sorceresses Fringilla and Sabrina; and Millie Brady as Renfri.
  • Production is set to begin this fall with Alik Sakharov (Game of Thrones), Álex García López (Utopia), and Charlotte Brändström (Counterpart) each directing portions of the season. The series is expected to shoot primarily in Budapest, Hungary from October 2018 to May 2019 with a late 2019 release date.
  • New synopsis: "Geralt, a genetically enhanced monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. Geralt’s story entwines with Ciri, an orphaned young girl who wants to find a family & Yennefer, a powerful sorceress whose beauty and talent comes at a cost. Bound together by destiny, often against their will, the three must navigate The Continent together. And Geralt and Yennefer realize that they must protect this girl - who might just destroy the world.”
