Trans people are increasingly making their mark on an industry that is notoriously difficult to break. In 2018 alone, trans woman Paris Lees covered Vogue. Last week, Aaron Philip, a seventeen year old trans woman with cerebral palsy, was signed by Elite Modelling, a major modelling agency. And now, at New York Fashion Week, Marco Marco showed its newest collection using 34 trans models in a show "hailed as a groundbreaking moment in the fashion industry."

Laverne Cox, who started the hashtag #TransIsBeautiful three years ago to celebrate diversity and empower trans people, attended the runway show and posted a video of the models on the runway on her instagram:
