Does anyone actually look up to these beauty queens? Because even when I was a kid I can’t remember anybody have an posters of a them or following them. And the only one I can name off the top of my head is Vanessa Williams and well we know what her scandal was. Shitty ex-boyfriend’s suck.

I think for the most part these girls are pushed into it at a super young age by their parents and they don't really know anything different

Some of them become actors, Shelley Hennig was one (I don't remember how far she got in pagents), Olivia Culpo was I think Miss America, there's others but I think a lot of them use it as a stepping stone and certain ones win a lot of money

When I was in high school and wanting to get a degree in sports journalism, my dad bought the biography of Phyllis George, who was Miss America in the 1970s and went on to be a sportscaster (one of the first women ever to be prominently featured in NFL coverage). It's an amazing book and she's really kick-ass.

A lot of them end up working for the Miss America fund scholarship foundation.
