First reviews are in for Steve McQueen's 'Widows' starring Viola Davis, more

Steve McQueen's 'Widows' was *fantastic*. Loved all the performances but Viola Davis and Elizabeth Debicki are next level and will be players in Award season. Another movie I can't recommend enough. One of the best film's at #TIFF18 and 2018. pic.twitter.com/zLvpFs6Dnb

Reactions and reviews are pouring in now for Steve McQueen's very anticipated heist movie 'Widows', and of course to no surprise it's getting raves for Viola Davis. Also in awards discussion are actors Elizabeth Debicki, Daniel Kaluuya, Cynthia Erivo... honestly everyone.

This one'll probably lock the SAG Awards ensemble win. A fun blockbuster of a thriller that has been compared to 'The Departed', 'The Town', and other similar-minded acclaimed features.

WIDOWS: This rules, obviously. Almost impossible for it not to, with that cast, but it's also brawny and twisty and heartsick and gave me what I didn't get from OCEAN'S EIGHT in terms of a women-led heist movie. And Kaluuya's heel turn is so fun #tiff

Widows is a totally gratifying, emotional and relevant drama and a crowd pleaser at that too. Every actor here shines but MVP titles belong to Debicki, Kaluuya, and Erivo, also that final shot is 🔥🔥🔥 #TIFF2018

"Widows" is a very unique take on the heist genre. Steve McQueen's visuals are fantastic. The frenetic pace is kept up throughout. This mix of arthouse and blockbuster is anchored by an incredible Viola Davis performance. Highly entertaining stuff. #TIFF

Viola Davis will certainly be part of Oscar conversation as may Elizabeth Debicki. And Academy’s changing, around 900 new members this yr, many younger people, ethnic minorities and women so with demographic changing could film that’s not usual Oscar fare be Best Pic nom? #Widows pic.twitter.com/bVzyneftbn

I've RT'd what @adambvary thinks about #Widows because I agree!

I saw this movie before #TIFF18, but I'm still going to say it's my favorite movie of the festival. It's too bad that every actor in #Widows needs to be nominated for Oscars, but that's just the way it needs to be. https://t.co/R1qBe9JYvr

Saw Widows back in LA. Viola Davis and Elizabeth Dubiecki are SUPERB. Both have shots at Best Actress and Supporting Actress nods. It’s a possible Best Picture player but some think it’s too commercial, some think it’s too art house. #tiff #oscars

Everyone is great in WIDOWS. Among the supporting players, Cynthia Erivo makes a stunning film debut while Daniel Kaluuya and Brian Tyree Henry are terrifying. And I want a spin-off just about Elizabeth Debicki’s character.
