I remember being dragged down and trashed talked, insulted, threatened over messages on here because I told girls that they shouldn't be sending him nudes or sexting with him when some of those girls were CLEARLY underage and bragging about it on here. I was told they could do whatever they wanted with their bodies and I shouldn't be trying to police their behavior, how old they are doesn't matter, they can do what they want.

I know I am older and was concerned for the welfare of the yooooooung girls sending him stuff and hoping to get attention from someone famous, but I was astonished at the backlash I received from people who were and still are a part of this community supporting any of those girls sending photos or sexting a grown man when their profile read they were about fourteen.

I guess providing kiddie porn to a grown fucking man is what they really wanted to do. Just...still disgusts me to this day.

2009-2012 was also a weird time with internet feminism in general where if you said something like "Huh, kinda fucking weird that they make string bikinis and high heels for actual children" you'd be met with a lot of "YOU'RE the weird one! YOU'RE sexualizing teenagers!" so I'm no surprised that happened to you then.

I don't know how we've managed to get to a point where it's a normal thing that kids in middle school are having sex. When I was in middle school, the most scandalous thing was hearing that someone had "made out" with someone else; which was really just they kissed and nothing else happened. We all dressed like kids, and now I see kids (literally like 14-15 years old) who look like they're in their twenties and it does my freaking head in.

Here's a perfect example (like I saw this viral video about her hair colour and she's FOURTEEN):

I didn't get into anything like that, but I had plenty of friends. Two in particular who were addicted to crystal. A few others who were always out at some club. I never thought anything of it back then but yeah that was some wild shit they were dealing with as preteens.

my mother was/is a functioning alcoholic [functional until she got home and went full out] so there was always booze in the house. i definitely had my first proper drink around age 11/12. my parents didn't encourage me to drink...but i always found ways to get some until i was about 16, when i started drinking on the regular.

(i don't drink anymore) but i still did that stuff solo and no one knew about it? idk if that counts. i was definitely a 'good kid' in public.

I grew up in the Bible belt of the south, if something like that had happened, I'm sure it was swept under the rug faster than their parents belt snapped off their waists. As an adult, it does make me wonder about the kids who "moved away."

same. i remember a few kids got pregnant in my middle school back in the late 90s and a lot of them would talk about drinking/doing drugs.

Middle school was 20 years ago for me and there young teens having sex and doing drugs then. I happened to get along with everyone so I knew about it, but I had friends who would think the same as you tbh. It just depends on what you're choosing to notice or not. In highschool teens wearing business casual was hella in (lol late 90's fashion) and I always look back and think "wtf" but it's just a part of growing up. I knew girls who had perfect waves in their hair with highlights and stuff then too. Meanwhile I was looking like a scrub in my hand me downs menswear lol (I'm a girl). It's not all or nothing.
