Amy Poehler was named one of the 40 most powerful people in comedy and her answers to these questions are genius:

I don't trust people who make tv shows where their bff is a libertarian who gleefully talks about stopping any progress and actively make people fight harder than necessary for progress to happen. I can't watch Parks and Recs because I get so angry at Ron.

I thought you were talking about Mr. Rogers for a second.

The part where Ron indoctrinated that little girl into his political philosophy was so inappropriate.

I have a lot of feelings about Parks and Recs lol. Some of it I love and Leslie Knope is one of my favorite characters ever but on the other hand I couldn't stand Ron most of the time and I HATED the way the characters bullied Jerry. Like if it was a darker comedy with characters that are supposed to be problematic or if Jerry was a racist asshole or smth, I wouldn't have had a problem, but the show made a point of being inspiring and feel good so to have all these ~good people continuosly bully some poor guy just because he wasn't cool enough or whatever really bothered me

It was a running gag that personally didn't bother me because I think it balanced out with how Jerry had a GREAT home life with a beautiful and loving family. Besides, the other characters did care about him at the end of the day. In the flash=forward, when Leslie and Ben go to his funeral, it's shown that Jerry lived a long, fulfilling, and happy life.

so as long as someone has a happy home life they're fair game for bullying? wtf?

mte. I didn't realize someone was fair game if they were happy at home. Is that a new thing?
"Hey Lisa, how's your home life?"
"It's amazing, Betty. I have the perfect husband and a decent house and... a little one on the way!"
"Cool then. You're worthless so give me your lunch money."

LOL, okay then...

I mean, it was a gag on a TV show so I'm only looking at it in that context. Has nothing to do with real life.

Omg same! And then when he left they still have to bully someone because that's how nature works? Like, what? Their bullying of Jerry was awful and I never understood why. And near the end they try to give him a great life, but it's like it's too late, we already know y'all are jerks.
