My wondrous queen, Stephanie Lynn Nicks turned 70 yesterday (DOB: May 26, 1948). A member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (Fleetwood Mac were inducted in 1998), Fleetwood Mac's Rumours remains the 5th best selling album of all time and has released 8 solo albums to date. Stevie Nicks and longtime musical collaborator Lindsay Buckingham joined Fleetwood Mac in 1975 after Mick Fleetwood asked Buckingham to join the band (Fleetwood Mac) but he insisted he and Nicks were a package deal.
I made a choice to not be married and not have children, because I wanted to be a big-time rock & roll star. And people can get mad at me for saying this, but I did not feel that I could do both. I would have been, I think, a great mom, and I would not have put my career first once I had a baby. Even in my really bad, drugged-out days, I didn't go away. I still toured, still did interviews. I never gave up the fight. That's why I'm who I am today, because I didn't leave. And I think I made the right choice. (Nicks has said some version of this quote throughout interviews during the 00s)
The queen, the legend, inspiration to many and rivalled by none, my ICON! The incomparable, original elusive chanteuse STEVIE NICKS!!
