I feel like if you're from a non-tipping area of the world, it's best to just NOT tip at all, lol

Cause you tip before you eat? SMH.

At some places, yes. Or if you're a repeat customer, they'll remember you.

Mostly because places will remember you, and any counter place where you pay and sit to eat you tip before you eat.

So. Yes.

ONTD tipping posts are the sole reason I over tipped during my visits to the US. I was so paranoid and didn't want to get scolded!

Rightly so. The need for tipping is horrible, and should go away, but it's a thing. A thing made worse, surprise surprise, by the Orange Asshat's administration. They've undone Obama administration rules that were set up to try, and protect these people more.

Not to mention all the sexual harassment that arises from it: https://rewire.news/article/2018/02/13/tipped-minimum-wage-fueling-sexual-harassment-restaurants/

so yeah...tip your waitstaff!

american tipping is strange, you need to tip everyone: your cab driver, your tattoo artist, your hairstylist, housekeeping in a hotel you are staying and so on...

Because minimum wages are so low. Especially when certain states can supplement lower than minimum wages with tips for service jobs.

Yeah, I had to take one of the airport shuttles in Seattle to a nearby hotel because my airline fucked up and I was shocked to see everyone tipping the driver. I didn't do it, the USD I had on me was for emergencies. Felt uncomfortable though.
