☔
The ICONIC Robyn song "Dancing On My Own" was a hit in 2010 and is renowned as one of pop's finest moments. Rich in melody, rich in emotion... it's that song that picks you up after a good cry and keeps you moving while your tears ain't even dried up yet.
#Crying #in #the #club, if you will.
💧
Most of the following 2010's songs have those synths (I don't know how to describe it, very 80's maybe), and are about break-ups, being left out, or just being vulnerable. They will range from uptempo, midtempo, and on the ballad side (I really wanted to avoid ballads to make the post danceable but I guess you might consider some of these to be), but you can still find a way to groove along to like with DOMO.
🔮
OP's note: Yes I know I could add a million Drake songs. This list is not in any particular rank, just numbered, and is not an end all be all list because we like to #KeepTheConversationGoing and I cannot feel #CasualAboutCasualties that is the offense ya'll take on these lists)

▷ 12. Body Talk by Foxes (2015)
Notes: If we had to choose a successor to DOMO this'd be it. I mean "Body Talk" v Body Talk the album... shamltzy 'in my feelings' choreo... Epitome of what this list is about.

One girl on the last train
Small change in the universe, and she
Speaks to herself out loud
Nobody ever looks up at her
▷ 10. Fever by Carly Rae Jepsen (2016)
Notes: Originally I was going to add "When I Needed You" bc lyrically it fits, but the key of the song is a little too sunny. The fact that the demo for WINY was more angsty is fascinating.

You think you wanna be, you wanna be alone
Just wait until you're crying on the shower floor
It hits you in the chest, 'bout every day you're done
'Cause once you let it go, you better know it's gone
Ooh ooh
It's never the same, uh, yeah, after the breakup

Notes: This was the song that highkey made me want to make this list. Emotional and a surprising trap beat. I'm loving Contemporarre Li

Still I wait up, lonely in the canyon
No love, there's no love, reflecting in the glow of
Million dollar man

▷ 1. Could U Love Me by LIZ (2018)
Notes: Who can forget the SOTY, a vulnerable open love letter. *bankhead bounces while crying*
Could you love the me that no one sees?
Would you hear me humming on the track, or try to drown it out
Sometimes, my silence screams so loud
Sick and tired of always running, always looking back
Something tells me you could be the one to slow me down
'Cause I got a guarded heart, a wall up
Hard to tell what I am thinking
Moody, arrogant, so sue me
Could you, could you love me?
Have you added these to your 'so sad, so sexy' playlist?
