Someone on ONTD said that they saw his mom just hanging out around his grave when they were at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery and it still makes me tear up thinking about it. My mom's friend goes out to have lunch at her son's grave once a week and he's been dead over 15 years. I don't know how people stand it.

And it's especially awful because Anton was their only child.

The grief must be unimaginable.

When my brother died my mom started going to a parents' grief group and the woman who led it had been attending meetings for 25 years.

My sister died when I was young (3 or 4? I hadn't started school) of medical complications and I don't remember my mom ever grieving about it? For a long time growing up we had a small "shrine" set up in her memory but when we moved overseas it got packed in a box and...god knows where it is now. The basement somewhere?? As an adult now I find it so strange that life just...went on?
Maybe I don't remember because I was so young?

You might have just normalized anything you saw at that age? Or she might have hidden it from you I think the general idea my mom got from the group is that everyone goes through it in different ways. I think my mom probably would have reacted way differently if me and my brothers were younger.

I’m still traumatized over my mom dying the anniversary of her death is 2 days before my birthday and I don’t even like celebrating it anymore. My own family even forgets

I feel your pain, my Mum died the day before my 25th birthday. Still don't celebrate much. Was very strange being handed sympathy cards and birthday cards at the same time.

we had a close family friend that lost their only child to a freak hiking accident. its been a few years and it still feels so surreal. parents who have these kind of losses just amaze me, and they way they carry on with life.
