ONTD, are you glad Marvel is taking those baby steps?

it makes me angry that these are even considered baby steps. i saw this quote from gal gadot on my tumblr dashboard that i think sums it up really well. of course i can't find it in my queue/drafts or even via search (i didn't try hard, sorry), but she said that women make up 50% of the population, so we should be making up 50% of the superhero (and even just plain old fucking movies and books and tv series) led stories out there.

i loved black panther for the sole purpose that the women were such fucking badasses. none of them needed t'challa to help them, and t'challa never felt like he needed to save them, either. i love this film. i even liked valkyrie in thor because thor was just in so much wonder of her, and it's why i wish sif, the goddess of fucking war, was in the film, too. the kid in me who loved to dress up and roleplay was loving it so much.

I loooooovvvvveeeed Thor Ragnarok. The stakes felt so high in that movie

And I LOVE black panther. My only problem w BP was why the fuck was that white man in the movie. I would have loved if they have replaced him w a PoC. Maria Hill would have been awesome

Wait, never mind, oop, the actress that plays Maria Hill is actually white. Why did I always think that she was Latina

No Maria Hill then. Valkirie!

dude, you're telling me! i'm not really big on the mcu, because i've found their movies to be really boring at times, but ragnarok was the funnest thor movie and black panther really upped the stakes for me quality and engagement-wise with this franchise. i felt like martin and even the other one (i cannot remember his name) could've been poc. they felt shoehorned in, and maybe it's because i went in already disliking martin because of ontd lol. i loved shuri's joke about white boys coming in to be fixed up, but it would've been cooler if it wasn't john watson, you know?

They need a female centric super heroine film series. Not just some black widow film. Now that they have X-Men they can hopefully do it because Jean Grey and Storm are iconic.

Shame DC can't get their shit together because I would pay big bucks for a Gotham City Sirens film. And one that isn't just fanservice. I mean a proper film.

tbh DC has the better/more iconic female superheroes. It's only recently that Marvel has attempted to make Captain Marvel into their equivalent of Wonder Woman.

What is this nonsense that DC has better female heroes? X-Women, She-Hulk, Kamala Khan, Jane Foster,... are all wonderful characters that deserve to be portrayed in various medias.

People downplay the success of X-Men and forget X women are the shit. They're so awesome all of them. Jubilee gurl you gonna get your time to shine one day.

DC have a better roster of female supervillains for sure though but it's really the Gotham girls is where it's at with Batgirl, Catwoman, Poison Ivy and Harley. Add possibly Huntress or Black Canary in to the mix and give me a film.
