a flying first for me: 4 hours into an 11 hour flight and we are turning around because we have a passenger who isn’t supposed to be on this plane. Why...why do we all gotta go back, I do not know

I googled who that was and came across an article with this

In the United States, perhaps the most egregious case in recent years was that of Kip Litton. Litton, a Michigan dentist in his 40s, was a champion marathon runner who claimed to regularly run marathons in under three hours and who was, he said, setting some sort of record by completing marathons in all 50 states. Neither assertion was correct, but give him points for effort. Once, he went so far as to invent a fake marathon in Wyoming, complete with a fake website, fake competitors, fake race officials and a fake winner (himself).

lmao jesus.

he is not my friend, and i also think what he did was very stupid and dangerous, especially because he is not from the eeuu. i dont know much about marathons but he told us that you can search for his number in a web page and see his pictures running the marathon, and another woman who had the same number.

Yipes. That is not smart. He can get arrested for fraud charges here, aside from deportion. Not to mention this is a post-Boston Marathon Bombing world now, and the police + FBI REALLY take security at major marathons seriously now; your ass is in big trouble the day some nut sets off a backpack bomb & the police ask "why were you ~coincidentally~ bib muling that same day ?"

My mom and I accidently went to a play on the wrong night and the scanner still scanned the ticket. We were lucky no one showed up for our seats because we didn't even notice until intermission.

in my limited experience as someone who has scanned tickets at a few festivals before: they usually all beep, but the screen flashes with some kind of error message. So in some ways it's actually up to the person who is scanning to ticket to decide if they give a shit in calling you out or just letting you in because at a GA show it doesn't matter (the times it happened, I erred on the latter)

I mean ANA codeshares with UA since they are both Star Alliance so it doesn't matter. But why didn't the machine say anything about the passenger being on the wrong flight? SO random.
