Bless you OP! I tried getting/finishing other shows on Netflix but ended up rewatching PB all over again. I still think s3 was the weakest and I hate what they did with Grace (Steven Knight does not know how to write women, that has to be repeated lol) but gdi I'm excited for new episodes!

lol I'll never understand the Grace hate bc she was imo the best female character in s1. We saw her motivations and what she's capable of doing although she's always underestimated. I think the way she was written in s2 and s3 didn't make sense though (but I feel like that goes for all the women on the show).

I will gladly admit it's also because I think Annabella Wallis is a basic actress ever since she came after Natalie Dormer in The Tudors. Anne Boleyn forever, Jane sucked

Tbh, I would have liked Grace better if she hadn't fallen in love with Tommy and proved herself to be an ice cold cop. Fucking eachother after shooting people because they finally saw eachother and they understood eachother. Like wut? That romance was horribly written. She had a perfectly fine husband but still hung up on a gangster who can barely get himself to care? Not for me

lol I never saw the Tudors so I can't comment on that, but I thought Annabelle did well in this role. I understand what you mean about the romance bc as soon as I watched this, I knew there would (of course!) be love interests for Tommy. It's so predictable. But there was something interesting and convincing about their quiet chemistry. The fact that he shared something important with her that he had withheld from his family was also striking. It felt like the show proved his trust/relationship with Grace was much different than that with others (although subtle). But I guess Steven Knight isn't as creative or imaginative given what he resorted to lol. I think other writers could've been more daring and shown Grace as being a partner/accomplice to his business dealings. I mean, if he saw Tommy being married as too good or too "happy" of a situation, then I wonder if he's aware of just how tumultuous and trying marriages can actually be lol.

You should for Natalie Dormer alone. Plus her chemistry with JRM was intense. Anyone coming after her is boring as fuck. Doesn't help the fact that Jane had to be the polar opposite of Anne, so again, boring. And I thought Grace was boring anyway. But then again she was also badly written because how she was in s2 was so different from s1. S1 she was relatively simple in appearance and had her own mind. Come s2 and she wears far too much blush and all she does is pine for Tommy and tries to outwit May.

Oh and her manner of speech annoyed the shit out of me too. Speak up, not whisper ffs. So yeah, not a fan lol

The one thing I dislike about how almost all of the women are written on this show is that 9 out of 10 times, they are punished either mentally or physically for doing stuff for the business in a way the men are not. That is why I liked Tatiana. Tatiana was allowed to be unapologetically cunning and ruthless, something not even Polly has

ITA, I liked her in S1, found her totally inconsistent in S2. Was ready for her to go in S3 for that reason.

Though I can't totally agree with you, bc I don't see any major flaws in how Polly is written.

Me too. Couldn't stand her in season 2.

I hated that I hated her in S3 as well... bc I defended her in S1. But the massive downgrade could not be denied, she had to go.

Also, I ended up liking that now Charlie is Tommy's chief motive and he has to come through, he's the only parent.
