i stan emily so much but im not a fan of her acting lmao idek, i find her hard to watch cause i feel like im watching someone try SO hard to act. but i love her as a person and she's beautiful

tbf, i haven't watched american gods yet. but everything else she's in she constantly looks like she's on the verge of tears or something lmao. like i can't put my finger on it. she was good in that creepy sleeping beauty movie tho i think

here she was very good portraying a depressed person, numbed but not voided of emotions. it was good.

Ah was going to say the same =) hehe, I do enjoy Emily's work but I think that kind of vulnerability she exudes will work very well with this character! I'm not sure if you're interested in the show, but I do think it's worth a checking out, especially with the cast and crew involved!

But yeah, so far, I'm really loving her in this role, even though in my head I had imagined someone a bit older.

yeah, like i said to the other commenter, i felt like her best work was in that sleeping beauty movie cause she just has like a ... idk wilted flower thing about her , i might check out the show cause i always meant to read the book but i heard it's a bit hit or miss on getting through so i'd rather just watch lol

I've seen her in things, but I skipped over SB hehe, I think at the time I was a bit unsure about the premise of it, but yeah she definitely plays the wilting flower type a lot in her projects.

And nice! Yeah no worries if you're unfamiliar with the book, I think you can still enjoy it without prior knowledge, but I do think if you're not big on mythology and whatnot that some parts of the story and the characters you meet might confuse you. But there's the internet for that =)

Still, hope you enjoy!

i stanned her i guess back during the series of unfortunate events days. i still wish she was cast in twilight since i'd rather see her around than have k.stew be an icon

I have been a stan of Emily's for over a decade, seen everything she's been in etc. I think I know where you are coming from. I'm not always a fan of her acting. I'm especially not a fan of her always playing very similar "damaged" or "mentally ill" characters.

But I've also come to realise that my POV might not always be reliable. She definitely has acting quirks that are VERY noticeable to me, but would not be for some average viewer. So I would watch her performance very differently to someone who is not familiar with her would. Does that make sense?

So basically I try to give her a bit of a break when it comes to acting.

I am loving her as Laura though. Tis a very different character for her. Still mentally ill, but like you said, very nihilistic like her SB character.
