i can name a handful of great men in my life, all of whom have at one time or another said incredibly misogynistic things in a totally casual manner ("she was asking for it," "but what was she wearing," "she knew what she was getting into," etc). and i'm including my own father (who is otherwise super-progressive) and my brother (who is one of the nicest people i know).
