I don't know much about him but I saw recent interview about this movie and he came across really lovely and polite. I mean he does seem method but not in a pretentious way

He stopped talking to his gf for months without warning for this movie. Like she had no idea what was going on with him for months. That seems pretty douche-y to me lol

He didn't just stop talking to his girlfriend and his family, he talked to no one else on the film except the director. He wouldn't eat lunch with everyone else, stayed at a different hotel, and literally ignored everyone unless they were filming the scene (and then he only spoke the dialog, didn't talk to his fellow actors at all).

It's really not pleasant making a film with someone who's going full method.

Anne Hathaway said she thought Meryl Streep hated her when they made The Devil Wears Prada. Meryl ignored her when they were on set, never talked to her. Afterwards she was very friendly when they were doing promo and she was out of character.
