i cringe so much when they say hala madrid, like madrid is full of white supremacists that have no problem with calling you a dirty sudaca, my dude.

Omg I told this story before but when I was in Korea, three Spaniards stayed in the same hostel I did. I had befriended the employees and one of them was like DO NOT TELL THEM YOU ARE MEXICAN. He told me that a neighboring hostel was getting sued by two South Americans who had been harassed by some Spaniards (called them dogs etc) and they felt the hostel owner had done nothing to protect them from the aggression. Long story short they got there midday when I was downstairs by myself eating and I said hi to them in Spanish without thinking. One of them asked me how I knew Spanish and I said I was Mexican, she straight up just goes, in a nasty tone "Con razon," and Im standing there like what the fuck is that supposed to mean. Con razon what? and proceeded to ignore me the rest of the time there so i just talked shit about them to everyone. When I told the hostel worker he was like I TOLD YOU NOT TO TELL THEM.

Girl, even a lot of people in Spain dislike many football teams, especially Madrid, because they still see them as reminders of pro-Franco times. My Valencian friend says his dad would kick me out of the house for saying "hala Madrid," lol

I read somewhere that the team that Franco mostly supported was Atlético, Real Madrid too but that the team of his heart was Atleti, I like Atleti :/

Atleti was the team the regime originally supported iirc but they dropped them for Madrid bc they were good pr and represented a powerful (Castilian) Spain

Ohh, I did not know that, so both were Franco's teams at some point, thanks for the info !

i also like atleti but they have a serious racism problem. the fans are trash and at least one player in the current team is anti black
