If I were a name brand director, I would probably find it stifling to work with modern-day Marvel or DC since they (or at least Marvel, Idk as much about D.C.) require you to surrender so much of your creative control so the movie can fit into the cinematic universe.

It'd be one thing if this was the mid -00's and they actually let you try to make it your own. I feel like the whole cinematic universe thing has prevented shitshows like Catwoman or the older Fantastic Four movies, but at the cost of more genuinely creative movies like Sam Raimi's Spider-Man (well, 1 and 2 at least lol) and Christopher Nolan's Batman. At least on the Marvel side of things, I guess the D.C. universe movies are still pretty shit even with the supposed QC that a linked universe should theoretically provide lol

I watched the original alien for the first time as an adult last night, it was great! I wasn't expecting so much action. My vague memories from seeing it as a child were mostly just the face hugger so I was surprised at all the screentime the full size alien got.
