I always had the impression this band was never as big as they were perceived to be. At least in America.

Idk about America but I'm pretty sure they were huge in Europe, even before they did any music in English. Non-German-speaking ppl didn't understand much what they were singing about but it didn't really matter.

their popularity in germany was really crazy. during 2005-2007 they were EVERYWHERE. kinda reminds me of kpop boybands tbh

i remember there were reports that some of their crazy fans drove to their hometown and camped in front of their parents' house. they even stole the bus shelter where the twins used to wait for their school bus.

There were a lot of terrible fans. They would post graphic twincest art at the home of the mother of the twins, and harassed her without mercy. They would chase them.

They broke into the twins' homes and took personal things, and so on. There were audio recordings of the twins begging the girls to leave them alone.

Here is an article about the worse of the worst

It was twisted, very very very twisted and sick and terrible.

i just watched an old tv report about them on yt, jesus these fans were annoying. also another one that would sleep in front of the concert halls for weeks, neglect school and whatnot.

their American fan base is kind of niche, but they've said they like it that way. They can go out over here without people flipping out or even recognizing who they are most of the time, and since they're really private it works. In Europe they were huge, they're still a lot bigger over there than they are here. Their last tour I saw them in a small venue, then saw videos from their European and Russian dates and it was stadiums. SO much cooler in the smaller venues, and you can tell they're more comfortable with it.
