I never got fully into Torchwood but I don't think Jack worked as well on Torchwood as he did on Who. Barrowman is an over the top stage actor and he works a lot better on a show that is much lighter (Who) then he does on a show that gets as dark as Torchwood does.

I didn't love Capt Jack at first but I warmed to him a lot and I'll always enjoy his Who episodes.
