you're supposed to get boosters after a certain number of years, but i've never had chicken pox bc the vaccine and my mom never knew to get me boosters, so

they didn't have the vaccine when i was a kid so i got chicken pox. i was older when i got them too i think i was in 5th grade and everyone else i knew already had them. caught them from some kid at my friend's house that her mom was babysitting.

yeah, but if this person hasn't had them, why wouldn't they just go get the vaccine (or a booster)? or - can you get them anyway even if you've had the shot?

i had them when i was about 9, so i haven't gotten the vaccine, either.

yeah you can still get them but it's rare. or you just won't get a severe case.

i'm not sure but it may not be as effective if you're an adult? by then you'd need the shingles vaccine.

Some people also never develop immunity. I have a friend that had chicken pox like 3 times. I've had the chicken pox (no vaccine) and had to have titers drawn for school demonstrating antibodies or something.

my husband had chicken pox twice and then wound up getting shingles 8 years ago so yeah...he just never built that up i guess.

My SO's parents were too lazy to get them to doctors on the reg as children and he lives in constant paranoia, even though he's like 30 and has had many check-ups as an adult and the docs have all assured him that he's really just fine and shouldn't be worried.
