ONTD Original™: Music Stars' Cringe Worthy Movies.

Jul 30, 2016 20:27

Many music stars try their hand at acting at least once during their career. Sometimes the results are good (IE: Eminem in 8 Mile), sometimes the results are tolerable (IE: Christina Aguilera in Burlesque), and sometimes the results are abysmal (but not always due to the singer's acting). Here is a list of the most cringe worthy films starring musical artists...

Justin Timberlake - Model Behavior (2000)
IMDB.com user rating: 6.1/10
The rating is purely nostalgia, this movie was bad & JT was bad in it. Am I supposed to believe that this girl who is mid west, Mall of America cute if I'm being generous is the hottest supermodel in the world(or mistaken for her). NO. Throw in a couple of Disney movie cliches and you have this film. JT would continue to assault the silver screen with many more duds, but I felt his first feature film deserved some recognition.

Lordi - Dark Floors (2008)
IMDB.com user rating: 4.5/10
My BF wanted to watch this movie and it was interesting to say the least. I was confused why all the demons were heavy metal looking...until I found out that it was Finnish Rock band Lordi starring in it. A handful of people get trapped in a haunted hospital with dire consequences. I'm still not sure what happened in this movie. was it hell? was it limbo?

Britney Spears - Crossroads (2002)
IMDB.com user rating: 3.3/10
I remember being mildly excited for this movie coming out when I was in HS, but after seeing it....Britney can keep it. Sure it's cheesy, but her acting is atrocious. The plot is so absurd it hurts. Anson Mount looked 20 years older than them and it just came off creepy. Plus the inclusion of the rape story line was...just...Props to Britney for giving her a backup dancer a bit role as a potential date rapist/sexual harasser tho.

Kelly Clarkson/Justin Guarini - From Justin to Kelly (2003)
IMDB.com user rating: 2.1/10
This obvious cash grab by Fox and American Idol executives is the darkest spot on Kelly Clarkson's resume. It pretty much killed any career Justin would have save for his Little Sweet persona in the Diet Dr. Pepper commercials. Literally, who thought this shit fest was a good idea?

Mariah Carey - Glitter (2001)
IMDB.com user rating: 2.1/10
Mariah. Mariah. Poor story, poor character development, poor timing. The movie soundtrack was released on 9/11 and the movie premiered on September 21st, 2001. Mariah went as far as to blame the attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon on poor numbers and the film's ultimate failure.

Jessica Simpson - The Dukes of Hazzard (2005)
IMDB.com user rating: 5.1/10
UGH. This movie was awful. Jessica can't act to save her life (her body was sick tho) and it just dragged and dragged. Every single joke fell flat and I actually found myself nodding off during it. Johnny Knoxville shouldn't be starring anything unless he is getting hit in the nuts with cannonball.

Madonna - Swept Away (2002)
IMDB.com user rating: 3.6/10
I actually really like Guy Ritchie films, but this one is the exception. Madonna becomes stranded on a deserted island with a dude and acts like a brat the whole time until they fall love. OK. Universally panned by critics and a huge box office failure. I'm sure Ritchie would like to forget this film and his ex wife.

Selena Gomez - Spring Breakers (2012)
IMDB.com user rating: 5.3/10
In theory this movie would have been good, but that all went down the drain when they cast James Franco as the drug kingpin/rapper Alien. He was so distracting in this movie that I couldn't enjoy it. Plus, am I to believe that these girls who never committed a crime in their life, would rob a restaurant to fund their spring break trip and then end up murdering 20 people with oozies for the hell of it? and Selena's character leaves half way thru the movie. It's like the time they hyped up Drew Barrymore in Scream and then she gets killed in the first 15 mins.

Beyonce - Obsessed (2009)
IMDB.com user rating: 4.9/10
Acting is not Beyonce's strong suit. This movie was at least entertaining, not for the story, but for the iconic one liners and the ridiculous use of a stunt person who was obviously WAY more muscular than Beyonce. Who is responsible for editing or continuity in this film? YIKES.

Jennifer Lopez - The Boy Next Door (2015)
IMDB.com user rating: 4.6/10
I attempted to watch this movie on demand and I had to turn it off after 20 mins. Shit, I would confuse Ryan Guzman for a hot late 20 something too, not a fixing to be senior in HS. The dialogue was awful, the story was unbelievable. Just all around terrible.
