this movie does look truly terrible, but i'll still pay money to see it because the douche bros can't be "right" on this one.

Which is all anyone can seriously claim that the original was, so it's right on track as far as I can see.

Exactly. Thank you. It was just a fun movie, not the 400 blows or some cinematic masterpiece Jesus

god THIS. i hate that people are acting as though ghostbusters practically invented comedy movies. is it hilarious? of course. is our view of it tinted by nostalgia? absolutely. if the exact same movie came out today i don't think this guy would hold it up as his citizen kane.

people treat the original like a masterpiece of modern cinema and its average at best.

I love the first two films but they're definitely overblown from people putting them on a pedestal.

You're seriously going to have to explain how it was anything deeper or better-written than a fun popcorn flick lol.

"Everyone liked it a lot" doesn't mean it's an untouchable masterpiece or somehow not a popcorn flick. NOTHING is too good for sequels, derivative work, etc. but if people are going to act like fucking Ghostbusters of ALL films is too perfect and amazing for a reboot, people are going to point out that it's not actually AS good as people who were seven years old and thought poop jokes were the height of comedy when it came out would have you think.
