That show will always go down as my least favorite finale ever, and it's going to take A LOT to have something take the crown.

I'd almost be impressed if they managed something that horrid, to be honest.

There was no way Will or Grace could ever find a partner and have the families he/she wanted if they stayed close.

It was a terrible ending, but it was also pretty much the only one that made sense given where the show annoyingly went leading up to it, for the last season or so.

Because they spent the last season+ showing how insanely unhealthy their codependence was (whereas before it wasn't necessarily healthy, but it wasn't completely level 100 toxic) and how they were standing in each other's way. Will, in particular, was constantly subverting himself, only for him to turn around and lord it over and look down on her for his own choice to do so. They just needed to get way from each other.

Really, the show could have used a "It was all a dream" ending and wiped away everything Leo-onward.

Grace was pregnant with Leo's child, from a quick hookup in the mile high club.

Will was getting ready to help her raise the child, but then Leo asked Grace to forgive him. Will gave Grace an ultimatum, either him or Leo. Grace chose Leo and that ended their friendship.

fast forward 18 or 19 years.

Will's son with Vince ends up living across the dorm room from Grace's daughter. they click, end up marrying, reconnecting Will & Grace.
