After Kyuhyun said, “I do it because I want your attention,” I left the rooftop with a fuzzy feeling. Kyuhyun trailed behind me, trying to intertwine our hands from time to time, but I wouldn’t let him get my hand. Sometimes, he can be too childish.
“Do you think you can come here whenever you want?!” our teacher Mr. Kim shouted at us as soon as we stepped in the classroom. “You 2 have detention today.”
Other kids laughed at us. Donghae hid his face with his hands out of embarrassment, while Eunhyuk asked him what was wrong.
“What are you all laughing about!?” Mr. Kim shouted at other kids this time. “Get back to work and you two, get in and start to work.”
Kyuhyun and I went to our respective desks and started to work on whatever the teacher put on the board. But then, I couldn’t concentrate because I was not in the classroom from the beginning to listen to Mr. Kim’s directions. Plus, no one would tell me what was happening, like why Mr. Kim would be angry when this isn’t the first time this incident happened. When the class was over, Donghae walked with me for the next class.
“So… you’re in detention,” Donghae wiggled his eyebrows.
“So what? I know this is-“
“You’re in detention with Kyuhyun,” Donghae interrupted.
“So what?” I asked, curious to what Donghae will say.
“For God’s sake! It’s Kyuhyun you are staying with after classes… cleaning that dirty classroom.”
“I rather stay in my house doing 100 homeworks than being here with Kyuhyun cleaning classrooms.”
That’s how our conversation went while walking towards the next class which was far away. Finally, we entered and the class started.
“Please, sit with your partners; you are all going to work on the project that is due next week,” said Mr. Lee, our Physics teacher.
Kyuhyun put his desk next to mine and took out his notebook with all gibberish notes. Then he took out all the materials: wires, batteries, light bulb, electric motor, bread board, and a small switch.
“We are going to do an electric circuit,” Kyuhyun said as if he knew what my question would be. “Mr. Lee put me with you as partners. I hope that’s okay?”
“Since he chose, can’t whine about it,” I said, looking at the soccer field through the window.
There was Onew, playing soccer with his friends. When he looked up, he saw me and waved. I waved him back happily. Kyuhyun tapped my shoulder and I turned to look at him.
“Focus Min, this is an important project and I want to get good grade on this,” Kyuhyun said all serious. “You know what, let’s change seats.”
“Huh? I want to be next to the window,” I said, but Kyuhyun pushed me lightly from my chair. “Fine, you can have the window.”
“What’s going on there?” Mr. Lee asked when Kyuhyun and I exchanged seat positions. Everyone turned to look at us.
“Nothing, Mr. Lee,” Kyuhyun answered and started to connect the batteries with wires. Mr. Lee went back to help other students.
Donghae, who was sitting in front of us with Eunhyuk, looked back to wink me. He mouthed: you and me, reunion after detention.
“Min, min,” Kyuhyun called, he even poked my arm.
“What?” I asked, as I turned to look at him.
“Would you mind doing your part?” He asked, this time so serious.
“Oh, yeah… sorry,” I said, turning back to work. I put my sad face since it was the first time that he told me something dead seriously.
Kyuhyun silently put a candy on my desk. I looked at him, and he just nodded. Happily, I unwrapped and ate it. Out of instinct, I hugged him tightly to say thanks. He put that happy expression afterwards.
Soon, school was over and only Kyuhyun and I were left to clean our classroom. I started to mop around the teacher’s desk, while Kyuhyun started to put all the chairs on the desk upside down.
There was a point that I was mopping without knowing in what direction, and my butt touched his butt. I quickly moved my body far away from his.
“Sorry Kyuhyun, I wasn’t looking,” I said, covering my blushing face with my hands.
“It’s okay,” Kyuhyun said putting the last chair on the desk. “You want any help?”
“It would be wonderful if you cleaned the board,” I said, looking away from Kyuhyun.
Kyuhyun started to clean the board with the eraser. It was good that he did that job because I didn’t want to get my hands all white. I still can’t believe that my school used chalk when there are tons of whiteboard and markers.
“Min,” Kyuhyun said, as I stop mopping. He stood in front of me with his hands behind his back.
“What? Did you finish?” I asked, looking at his state.
I didn’t expect this. Kyuhyun clashed the erasers, making all the white thing land on my face. I was at the verge of slapping him hard, but I didn’t.
“Ya! I don’t want to be all dirty,” I said, about to cry out of anger.
As soon as my eyes started to tear up, he saw it and put that sorry face. He came closer to me and hugged tightly.
“Sorry, I was just joking around,” he said, landing a kiss on my cheek. “Sorry that I act all childish, but I really like to bother you.”
He wiped the chalk off my face then stared at me lovingly. It was all awkward, but thanks to Onew who just appeared by the door to ask what we were doing, Kyuhyun separated himself from me.
“Hey Onew, we are in detention. What are you doing here at this hour?” I asked happily.
“Oh, I had soccer training,” he answered happily.
“Min, what are you doing? You’re supposed to be mopping the floor,” Kyuhyun said sharply.
“I see you are busy, hyung. Anyways, I have to go, bye!” Onew left.
“Bye Onew! See you tomorrow!” I shouted at the hallway. Dang, Onew is really fast.
I turned to look at Kyuhyun and asked, “Kyu, are you jealous or something?”
“Me? Jealous? Yes, I am,” Kyuhyun answered honestly.
“Well, you shouldn’t be. You don’t love me anyways.”
“You think I don’t? Listen carefully Lee Sungmin,” Kyuhyun grabbed my shoulders and pushed me to the wall. “First, I’m aware that you’re confused because of my actions, but I want to let you know that I mean it. Second, I don’t know how to confess. Third, I really love you even though you hate me for rejecting you that other day.”
He leaned and put his forehead on mine.
“I regretted rejecting you at that moment, but now I don’t because now I’m sure what I feel for you.”
He kissed me on my forehead, cheek and lastly, on my lips.
“I- I have to go now, bye Kyuhyun,” I ran out of the classroom blushing madly.
When I walked pass the school gates, I saw Donghae waiting for me. I shook him, hugged him and started to sing out loud.
“Wow, detention really made you crazy,” Donghae said, smiling with me.
“Sorry, something happened,” I said.
“YOU DID SOMETHING WITH KYUHYUN, RIGHT?” Donghae asked, I smiled and ran away from him. Donghae chased me around.
