[It's unfortunate when a New Feather wakes up in the woods, although Tatsunosuke can't say finding himself in the middle of some odd looking town isn't any better. How he ended up sleeping on some road next to a house he's never seen is completely beyond him--and the sign labeled House 50 doesn't tell him much. And he's half-naked on top of that, wearing only some sort of Western pants. Plus, his back is killing him, probably because he ended up on a rock or something. Worse than all of that, however, is having no idea how to get back to Shinsengumi headquarters. What exactly is Tatsu supposed to do? Send a letter saying he's sorry he's not at work, but somehow he got lost completely against his will, so please don't think he's abandoned his position and therefore should commit seppeku?
Tatsunosuke can already feel his stomach aching in worry, before he's been up five solid minutes. And that's before he thinks about all the trouble Tetsu is likely to get into without his older brother around.
That settles it. He has to get back to Kyoto, now.
About the only thing that looks promising--a term only to be applied loosely in this case--is a book nearby with Tatsu's name on it. He's hoping for a map when he opens the cover, but clearly that's too much to ask. Instead the page is covered with various shapes, none of which do him any good.]
--at is any of this supposed to mean? [Tatsunosuke doesn't know he's turned on the book when he touched one of the symbols, though he'll learn.] Tetsu, I swear, if this is one of your jokes, I'm going to punish you so hard when I get home, you have no idea.
