tonight was the bands last concert at the high school before the crat.... and i ws kinda disapointed. jazz band did fairly well. my favorite song was "Rock this Town" by Brian Setzer. "Boom Boom" by John Lee Hooker was..... interesting to say the least. they played "There You'll Be" like they do EVERY year. it was actually nice not to hear Kelly play the alto solo.
the band... not so hot. they palyed...
"Pirates of the caribbean"..... that was so-so.
"Festivo" by Vaclav Nelhybel..... very different.
"flourish for wind" bands by R. Vaughn Williams.... that was a really pretty ballad.
a not so hot "Malaguena". it was an arrangment they got from Ashland High School. when i hear Malaguena i think of blast and the awesome trumpet player standing on the chair from the ceiling..... after hearing that, nothing can beat it. it was a very sorry song. plus the screaming trumpet part was palyed by a clarinet. dont get me wrong, i love my clarinet girls, but its just not the same. i KNOW that david can hit those notes, (they arent pretty, but it wasnt pretty on the clarient either).
before the last song wraight annouced his retierment. i guess a lot of the people hadn't heard yet. then he got kinda teary-eyed. "phantom of the opera"..... played that my junor year, so i'm kinda parcial to how we played it, and i hope that we played it better than they did. it was just so empty. they just played it. no emotion. i must say..... Snee did a kick ass job with the scream. couldnt have picked a better person.
so that was the concert. before hand i talk to some of the mommys and they are doing some MAJOR planning. it is still very hush hush. i hope i can help get it together, it should be really great. i know what would be uber awesome, but i dont think we could pull it off, but i do know that it would make wraight cry. anything that we do will make him cry, but my idea would REALLY make him cry.
anyway, im gonna get going and do.... i dont know what. maybe soon someone will rescue me from being bored.
