Just comparing it to the past two episodes, or a lot of seasons six and seven - this was a wonderfully done episode. Ben occasionally has a miss but only rarely and this was not one. GUH. Just. Everything flowed so well. I even initially was unimpressed with the "god" but the actor won me over at some point without me even noticing it. The bickering between Sam and Dean, the way the dynamics played out in Purgatory, Amelia starting out all hot-tempered and touchy and Sam realizing she's just hurt and alone, even the moments between Benny and Andrea and how their past mirrored what Dean thinks is going on between him and Sam (emotionally; this is not a shippy thing XD)... I loved it.♥
BEST. FUCKING. LINE. LMAOOOO I ALMOST WHEEZED MYSELF TO DEATH TRYING NOT TO WAKE MY MOM UP WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I also really liked Sam's line about the limes but I haven't seen a gif of it.
SECOND FAVORITE LINE? No wait, third. The "vampirates" bit with Benny's complete and utter lack of amusement was second. I also liked the Toblerone thing, but that was in a sneak peek already.
I loooooved all the Purgatory stuff (of course XD). Watching Benny and Cas get closer and Dean watching them get closer, and Dean deciding Benny was worth saving because he thought Cas was worth saving despite him bringing them more danger? (I mean, it could be that Benny had something to do with Cas not getting through the gate, but we'll have to see.) There'll be a lot of gifs of Purgatory because I get my gifs from Cas fans that go nuts when he shows up on screen. Eh, I'm OK with that. XD
DEAN CARES
DEAN VALUES CAS
DEAN REFUSES TO LET CAS SACRIFICE HIMSELF FOR DEAN AGAIN
*CUE SOBBING*
What was that, the Nutcracker? I think? Anyway, I really liked that moment.
Beautifully done.
I actually liked what they did with the Leviathans here. It makes them more of an immediate threat if they aren't walking around like everyone else and I like the idea that they don't operate the same in this zone they rule than on Earth, when they take on a person's form and pretend to be human.
I'm not getting tired of these references for a while.
Why does my handyman never look like this?
I like when they have Cas talk philosophy and science, and I like when the writers pose questions like this so we know they aren't unaware that it bears thinking about.
I ALSO LIKE IT WHEN CAS KICKS ASS, OK?
I love the development of Dean and Benny's friendship and I love, love, LOVE that it gives us things like this with Dean.
MY FIRST FUCKING THOUGHT, TO BE HONEST.
And none for Garth, bye.
