That sucks. I actually want mine to completely fail so I can use my Best Buy Replacement program to get a 60GB one.
I think I can trade mine in anyway, since the drive is wonky. It just randomly fails after an hour or so of gameplay.
I get the feeling my new PS3 will be less buggy. Haven't fired it up yet. Don't feel compelled to until I get my HDTV setup.
