My Hypermiling Progress - saving gas - (Hugs a tree)

Data:

These are imprecise but I thought I'd throw it out there.

My usual milage when the gas light comes on: 333mi
My usual fill up when the gas light comes on: 11gal
Total: 30.27mpg (on average - not too shabby already)

My current miles: 200mi
My current gas: 1/2 tank = about 5.5gal used (this might be slightly high I'll report the actual after I fill up)
Total: 36.36 (I'm very pleased w/ this so far)

[Edit] Now I'm not sure I can hit the 36.36 mark since I had to drive ~4mi back and forth with a cold engine last night. My friends at work are also doubting I'll get this sort of milage because the gas tank needle tends to "drop" after the 1/2 mark. I guess we'll see.

Proceedure:
I inflated my tires above the recommended 33psi to ~38psi front and back (the back should be a little lower but eh.) I tried inflating my tires to the max PSI like one guy did on the hypermiling site I was reading.. but my tires didn't grip well at all at 44psi.. so I deemed it to be too risky in case of emergencies and brought it back down.

I've been rolling to stops and coasting down hills.. also shifting into higher gears earlier to keep revs between 2.5-3K RPM (I drive a 6-speed manual so using high gears and neutral is very easy)

No modifications have been made to my car this is purely stock. www.fueleconomy.gov (EPA) rates my car at 21city 28hwy 24combined. The original EPA rating is 24/31/27.

So originally I was doing pretty good according to these figures.. and now I'm totally beating the pants off of them. Cheers. :)
