i cut bread out of my diet about a month ago, to see if it would make a difference to my figure. a lot of diets don't allow it, so i thought it might. i've stuck to it fairly well, i had some today for the first time in weeks. i don't think it's made much of a difference yet, but then i don't eat awfully badly so i think the weight problem is probably due to lack of exercise. never mind. i was reminded today that pancake day marks the start of lent, and subsequently asked what i will be giving up. i don't really have any vices (except, perhaps, laziness) and so i thought about it and answered, 'pasta'. i eat so much of the damn stuff. all those carbs can't be good for you. so maybe it will be good to take time out from it. i start tomorrow.

i also managed to get a job for myself. it's with slipstream merchandising, who are owned by the mama group, and i'll be working at the hammersmith apollo on various show nights, selling merch. it seems a pretty sweet job - i don't know how much the wage is as she didn't tell me, and i thought it might be considered cheeky to ask. but it's only like.. five hours a night, with an hour and a half break while the show is on - and which i can spend watching said show, if i wish. my first day (night?) is thursday, at 30 seconds to mars. i am excited, i suppose, but actually really scared. it's a big show and will probably sell a lot of stuff.. i'm kind of being thrown in at the deep end. maybe that's a good thing. i'm apprehensive at the idea of being faced with tons of people wanting tshirts and stuff, and having to make sure i get the right change, and the right money, and that i calculate it right, and doing it all fast enough. i'm sure i'll get the hang of it, but it's daunting.

zsl is recruiting as well, they have a recruitment day next week so i'm going to go to that. £8.88 an hour! i'd do it for min. wage goddamnit. i really hope i get that job, i will be sorted then. eee!
