Truly fantastic, as always. I really love the Queen's reaction. Although, does she really have those powers? I thought she was mostly a ceremonial figure, with no real governing power? Of course, I am not British, so I really don't know. True or not, it makes a great story. I do have one tiny quibble, you used the word retrospective where I think you meant retroactive. A retrospective is where you look back at past events, retroactive means something actually effects prior events. Anyway, very minor.
I hope, later on in the story when Jack is more recovered, that you will show a meeting between Jack and the Queen. I am sure she would want to see him at some point. And I do like your new story, but not as much as this one. This one is my favorite BY FAR!!!

Thank you. Amazingly enough the Monarch really does have all those powers, though they are almost never used. I think the most recent case of use was Elizabeth dissolving the Parliament of Australia. That was quite recent as these things go. They are a commonwealth country so the powers apply to them too. She did something to Canada's Parliament recently too, I believe. But if she tried to enforce them in the UK it would probably end with her being stripped of her powers.

I originally used retroactive but then thought, do I mean retrospective, so I googled 'retroactive law'. In fact either word is used interchangeably in the legal sense.

I do have plans for a scene with Jack and the Queen.

I was getting a bit blocked with this story, so instead of sitting twiddling my pen, I decided to write up the story I fleshed out in that week without a computer. It should not impinge on A New Dawn too much.

I'm happy to see the Queen acting so swiftly after receiving the information from Owen and am amazed to see how far she's willing to go to put things right for Jack. Jack will undoubtedly be just as amazed when he finds out.

I can't wait to see what happens when Oduya and Stamford are apprehended. I've very impressed with how the Queen is handling things so far and I can't wait until all those involved are brought to justice.

I'm also impressed with the Queen's insight into the obvious difficulties for Owen and Torchwood in dealing with Jack and his situation. It says a lot for Jack's integrity that she's willing to fully back Torchwood, financially and otherwise, in any way necessary to help in his recovery. Jack definitely does have friends in very high places.

As I see it the Queen has known and trusted Jack for decades. If she had known when he was originally arrested she might have intervened then, but she was kept in the dark. Now that she knows that he actually played a major part in saving the Earth she is determined to put it right. And that required a change in the law. I doubt that Parliament will put up a fight so she shouldn't have to use her powers (extensive as they are).

Oduya and Stamford should be very worried.

Hi. I was away for some time and didn’t have much access to the internet and I have to say I really missed it, especially visiting your site - it’s always the first thing I check when I go online.
So as soon as I got back I looked it up. I’m very happy that everything is finally revealed - the Queen deserves to know, or rather Jack deserves that she and everybody else knows it. And it’s wonderful of her that she wants to change the law just because of Jack - he deserves it more than anybody else. And I hope the therapy will help Jack at least a little, although there is obviously a long way ahead of him. So now there is only one person to find out, two actually: Doctor and Martha - where are they?
By the way, I started reading your other new story - very interesting beginning, I hope you will continue it too. I love your stories; everything you write is amazingly heartbreaking so I hope you won’t give up on writing them!
