The arrival of the Hot Hot Heat show tomorrow is bittersweet. I am going, but unsuredly. I saw them last time they were in town and didn't have too good of a time. Firstly because I hate Crapital Shitty Music Hall. I find it attracts shitty crowds of jocks who are clearly on both LSD and coke. Maybe this is simply "the ghost of Liquor Dome past" muddying up the atmosphere though. I don't know. Also the bouncers tend to be huge assholes. I can't blame it solely on the venue though. While I think Hot HOt Heat are talented, the singer seemed to stop at nothing to be the most annoying person in history. Sure, I have seen singers saunter in front of cameras to give the photographer a nice shot, but NEVER EVER before, in my 10 years of going to shows, have I seen a singer actually stop, in some ridiculous blantant Bon Jovi-esque pose, and wait, up to probably about 40 seconds for the picture to be taken. fjdkljglkfhr. Also, I know many many people who say that the music is alright but the vocals are irritating. I always countered that, saying I thought they were unique and fun. But at that show, I was praying that his vocal chords would go on strike. Soooo annoying.
But anyway, I have agreed, happily, I might add, to see them again. Promises of excellent opening bands, post-show beer chugging, post-beer chugging slumber party, and finally meeting that cool cat, Chelsea M.
Plus it gives me a long needed reason to get all dolled up, something I haven't done in far too long.
