i remember when joff took me to his secret picture-taking spot. we trespassed and illegally climbed up a ladder in a business building complex near where robert miller lives. at first, i could barely reach the ladder, so joff tried to give me a boost up. if anyone knows me, they know that i do not have any upper body strength whatsoever. so when joff boosted me up the first time, i held onto the bottom rung of the ladder, but then accidentally kicked him away and he lost his balance, which made me fall to the ground. so we tried it again, and again we failed. we tried one more time; this time i grabbed the outer cell on the ladder to try and kick myself up. again i fell. so joff came up with a brilliant plan: use his car. he actually drove his car over the curb and right next to the side of the building, so that the hood of his car was under the ladder. i climbed on top of the car and reached the fourth rung of the ladder, but i still couldn't manage to lift myself high enough to get my feet on the ladder. joff, being the genius he was, climbed on the hood and tried to boost me up from there. i tried to climb up, but only kicked him and made him lose his balance again, this time off the car. after what seemed the millionth time, joff boosted me up again and i finally got my feet on the bottom rung. by this time, i bruised up about 10 different spots on both my arms, but i didn't care. i finally got to see an amazing joff view of sarasota from that roof.
here are some of his pictures from that roof:
as you can see, it was a tall building. and that's one of his gross old coach shoes in the bottom left-hand corner.
this is one of my favorite memories, because i think i was the only person joff showed that roof to.
