[This isn't to say that Jamie can't handle herself in the face of danger, but right now even Dean is trying to keep his wits about him. Whatever is out there hasn't really been friendly. For the moment, he's pressed to the back wall, trail of salt around him and Jamie and he's making sure she doesn't go anywhere.]

[Jamie is not scared. Okay?

A little... uncertain perhaps. But that's not the same thing.]

Sorry- how the hell is salt supposed to protect us again?

[He glances to the door briefly, watching the shadow pace in front of it.]

Hopefully, it'll keep whatever's out there - actually out there. It's a bit of an old wives tale with a lot more truth in it. Until it gives up or goes away though - we're stuck right here.

[Her eyes follow the shadow apprehensively.]

If I hadn't just seen... all that I'd have said you had a screw or ten loose.

Sweetheart, I hear that all the time. [He takes a breath, relieved that it seems the thing out there hasn't figured out how to work a doorknob.]

Sorry the circle isn't bigger. I didn't want to run out of salt by giving you a bit more space to stretch. I used soap this morning. [And deodorant. For the record.]

Don't you 'sweetheart' me, sugar.

And since you seemm to know how to deal with these things, maybe I'll kick you out of this little circle and leave you to deal with it. [That's what she needs. Banter. So she can stop trying to figure out how any of this makes sense.]

[Heh.]

Yeah, you wanna do that and then when I end up that thing's lunch, who you think it's gonna come for next.

You think I like this scenario? Hiding in a storage room, outta ammo, and with a chick who's threatening to throw me to the damn thing?

[That gets a grin. She probably wouldn't feed you to it, Dean.] So give me a better plan.

This thing doesn't like salt, right? Any other weaknesses? Stakes? Silver? [what else worked in those stupid stories she read as a kid...] What if we chuck it in an oven?

You think if I knew what the hell that thing was I would be hiding here? Besides, you saw it. It's huge! You can't just chuck it in an oven. [Duh. Also, all the loud talking is making the thing snuffle at the crack under the door. Great. JUST GREAT.]

[She claps a hand over his mouth, eyes wide as she watches the... whatever it is on the other side of the door. Oh fuck.

Whispered.] You're sure salt works against this thing?

[HEY. HAND ON HIS MOUTH. :| How is he supposed to answer. The five year old in him wants to lick her hand to get her to let go.]

[DEAN THE MONSTER IS STILL FUCKING THERE YOU ARE THE EXPERT WHAT DOES SHE DO?

Yeah the hand is still there.]

[YOU GET YOUR HAND OFF OF HIS MOUTH. :|

Okay, he'll take his hand and pry her hand away. That exchange was like two seconds or something.]

I know that the averages are in our favor. [Sigh. He starts to look around, because that thing is not going through the door just yet. Maybe there's something. He'll LEAVE HER in the circle of salt and venture out to scope out the room. All the while keeping an eye on that shadow under the door.]

Just -- stay still.

[Okay, the bit where she threatened to throw you out of the circle was a joke so get back in here where you will not die! DEAN GET BACK HERE!]

...

Like hell I will if you aren't. [She puts a foot outside the circle, watching the door in case it explodes or something.]

[MAKE YOUR MIND UP.

He glares at her as she steps out of the circle. GDI.]

Get. Back. In. The. Circle! [He's trying to yell and not yell, since the thing is just behind that door. Behind the door and sniffing again. Gross.]

[Rather than talk any more than she has to she just glares at him. Sitting still is going to make her go crazy. Oh fuck the monster is right outside.]

What should I be looking for?

A way to get your ass back in that circle!!

[He nearly hisses the words at her as he goes to finish searching the room. He's feeling up the wall, trying to find the seam from the drywall install.]

[Eyeroll. That is not going to happen, Dean.

She scans her side of the room for something to use as a weapon. If the thing can't just ghost through the door then it should be able to be hit by something, right?

8D A BROOM. She freezes at the sound of a louder snuffle outside the door before grabbing the broom. It'll totally help, right?]

[Hey, did she think Dean abandoned her? Nope. No chance of that, he was just thinking. For a really long time.

Did she just grab a broom? No. No, no, no.]

No. Put that back and put your ass back in the circle! [Have some emphatic gesturing to boot!
