Hmm... this is a very interesting topic and has been on my mind since I saw that recent interview segment on youtube. I think it's important to remember that people behave differently in relationships at different points in their lives... maybe it's age, life experience, stress, or a zillion other factors coming into play. And we also don't know much about these relationships he speaks of. Relationships involve two parties and we are only privy to the opinion and viewpoint of one here.

All that being said, he does readily acknowledge that some of his thinking is "old fashioned" about relationships. This is a prime example of the fact that he is at least thoughtful about these things. He's aware of how he's being viewed by others, but it's not making him change his expressed opinion.

Once I got past my feminist outrage and took a step back I realized that his perfectionism spills over into relationships quite profoundly. It think he wants this perfect partner very deeply but he makes these interesting demands that are maybe unattainable. Maybe it's a form of self-sabotage? If he can never find this perfect gal, then he never has to open up and get hurt. I think in reality he's quite sensitive and perhaps these types of statements are his way of protecting himself while still sustaining his image and ego. I don't think he's a misogynist, he's probably just a guy who loves too deeply and has gotten hurt too many times. :/

This is exactly what I think when I read something GACKT says about women or relationships. I think he creates very solid walls around himself, especially when it comes to relationships. I honestly think that he's had very few, if any, healthy relationships and as such, it's become easier for him to just hold everyone at a distance by creating ridiculous standards. That way, if things don't work out, he can just say "I told you..." and he doesn't have to risk the heartbreak.

Interestingly enough, for the people that believe in astrology, this is a very common trait for Cancers (GACKT's sun sign.) They are very loving and tender individuals, but they build a hard outer shell (like the crab) so that they can protect themselves from hurt.
