Loving the photos! All those suits look pretty sharp. And LOL at the signature on the wall. Is that a thing in Japan I don't know about? (Also, hate to say it, but I'm kinda getting cranky at all this "baby" this and "baby" that and stuff on his Instagram.)

it's the pluralizing that really gets me

Anybody here ever watch Late Night with Conan O'Brien back when he was on NBC? He used to say "Keep cool, my babies" in this funny high-pitched voice whenever the audience kept woo-ing really loud and for a long time. Then he'd do his "string dance". XD Anyway, that's what I think of whenever GACKT says "babies", which is probably why it doesn't bother me. Though GACKT probably didn't intend for that. XD

String dance was funny! You know, Conan looks like our late president. Female president. They actually met when he was in Finland. Similarity is striking, haha!

I don´t know if you care Bowie at all, but there´s a great clip of them both:

OMG Yes! I saw those episodes when he first found out about Tarja Halonen and then he went to Finland. That was AWESOME! XD

And that was a great clip of Conan & David Bowie! I've always thought he was handsome but never found an "in" to his music. That said, I've had this deep voice going "Put on your red shoes and dance the blues" in my head since I was little and didn't know it was Bowie until...two days ago? orz Horrible, I know. There might be other songs like that. When I was a kid I really didn't pay attention to who sang what even though I liked to tape stuff off the radio.

I have been wondering this baby-word-thing. It seems to irritate English speaking people mostly. For the rest it´s just one word among others. Perhaps we are not so aware of all the connotations and allusions it carries. And I think it´s a safe bet to assume G has some strange and vague reasons of his own to use it. Or he doesn´t think about it at all ^^

Mmm, we've got "baby" as a bit of an endearment word--but I'm not sure many people really like that either? It's a little degrading, maybe? I'm really not sure why we don't like it so much lol. But I hear a lot of people complaining about people who call their significant other/gf/bf baby.

"babies" I've only heard to refer to a group of actual babies--but it's obvious that he's using a plural of the former usage.

It is interesting though--and I do wonder why so many of us native speakers hate it XD
I am still really missing Dears though

LOL, same here!

And oh, I really wish there had been a way to keep the fanclub name as Dears. The name fits the fandom well, I think. You're making me wonder if he's using the term babies because he can't use Dears anymore and is trying to find an alternative.

I got kinda super attached to it~

I figured he would do lovers--I think he did for a little bit, actually? But now babies seems to be sticking better.
Both are weird.

Yeah, I have a hazy memory of "lovers" here and there. Neither are my thing, either. (Though still yards and yards better than Luna Sea's "slaves", right? My jaw hit the floor when I realized that actually was the fanclub name.)

He still uses "G-LOVERS" in his blog.

"Baby" is usually an endearment used for your significant other, so to hear it in a plural form sounds weird. You only ever really hear "babies" when people are talking about actual babies...
