I don´t know if you care Bowie at all, but there´s a great clip of them both:

And that was a great clip of Conan & David Bowie! I've always thought he was handsome but never found an "in" to his music. That said, I've had this deep voice going "Put on your red shoes and dance the blues" in my head since I was little and didn't know it was Bowie until...two days ago? orz Horrible, I know. There might be other songs like that. When I was a kid I really didn't pay attention to who sang what even though I liked to tape stuff off the radio.

"babies" I've only heard to refer to a group of actual babies--but it's obvious that he's using a plural of the former usage.
It is interesting though--and I do wonder why so many of us native speakers hate it XD
I am still really missing Dears though

LOL, same here!
And oh, I really wish there had been a way to keep the fanclub name as Dears. The name fits the fandom well, I think. You're making me wonder if he's using the term babies because he can't use Dears anymore and is trying to find an alternative.

I figured he would do lovers--I think he did for a little bit, actually? But now babies seems to be sticking better.
Both are weird.

Both are weird.
Yeah, I have a hazy memory of "lovers" here and there. Neither are my thing, either. (Though still yards and yards better than Luna Sea's "slaves", right? My jaw hit the floor when I realized that actually was the fanclub name.)

"Baby" is usually an endearment used for your significant other, so to hear it in a plural form sounds weird. You only ever really hear "babies" when people are talking about actual babies...
