One of my friends got into making Kimchi, and I got some leftovers leftovers. I had this really awesome kimchi ramen dish a while ago, and I have wanted it so badly since--but the place that had it is separated by a very large body of water and requires an air plane to get to, so no more for me. Except that I can cook!

I spent like 5 hours letting broth simmer, and making the stock and cooking some beef was about as far as I got.
First time making beef broth, and I totally winged it--and browned some bones in a pot...which may have splintered them, and idk what that even does to the broth's taste, but apparently you don't want that. Marrow bones apparently also do NOT smell good. So we'll see how that goes (I bought a can if it doesn't work out, but broth seems pretty hard to ruin, so, eh)

Then I ate some guacamole (that I purchased earlier today), because I was hungry and I was still working on stock--food will not be done for a while. And it took me a few bites to realize, hey, should this be slimy? No. No it shouldn't.

My sympathies with the icky guacamole! Hope your sleeping schedule gets back to normal soon. It's such a pain when you have only x hours to sleep, and no time to catch up if that doesn't work out.

Slimy guacamole? That sounds... horrifying. I hope you feel better and that your schedule stabilizes soon! I know all too well how 12 hour class days suck when something happens to throw your balance out of order.

Also, if you ever ended up finishing it, how did the soup turn out?

At first, I think I would describe it more of as silky; the texture was actually pretty okay until I started feeling like I had the flu (which seems a bit fast? I thought that food poisoning was supposed to take, like, 30minutes-hours) and realized that slimy may have been a better term. -_-

I will :D I'm gonna see how lunch goes in an hour, and then I will totally be back to finishing the soup~ So excited

And I got up at 9 today~ I'm really excited. Thank goodness it stopped raining today; having the sun out, I think, has helped a lot.

That does look good! I've been making a lot of nabe recently, but I haven't been making the broth from scratch so the difficulty can't even compare.

And as for the guacamole, yeah if it makes you immediately sick , I agree that slimy suits it more. >.< Because "silky" doesn't sound bad at all.

oh, goodness no! Making the broth from scratch is super easy. Just throw some stuff in a pot to simmer for a few hours, and strain. :)
Only thing difficult about it is if you have the bright idea to put a whole chicken in a pot--which I do every single time because I don't learn from my mistakes--and then attempt to flip it over. That makes a mess, and I've broken a ladle that way.
Just time consuming in that you can't really leave while it's on the stove.
I've read just adding gelatin cubes to store bought helps bring it up to par with home-made though--gets you the extra thickness. Though I have no idea where you find those--I haven't seem then before.
Also, wine. Wine belongs in soup.
