Well, the phone call basically establishes that someone, maybe future!Natsuki is dead by 2020 if Shuuya doesn't interfere with the timeline (and that the changes he made so far only slightly delayed that, as she is missing when he calls her the next day). The way he speaks to the girl on the phone also implies they are very close.

I rather suspected that would be his motive.

As for how creepy Shuuya is CREEPY CREEPY HOLY SHIT CREEPY. Effectively he's a psychological abuser with the actual ability to change his victim's life and reality. I sincerely find him terrifying. I know we're headed towards the "but he did it all to save her" ending, but... I really hope the narrative doesn't let him off too easily for his morally questionable actions. If it ends with him being framed as a wonderful romantic hero I'm not gonna be pleased.

Kentaro is just way too sensible and sweet a person to be a character in a Japanese TV drama. I feel very sorry for him. Shuuya's problem with him is that he is simply "in the way" of the future Shuuya is trying to create.

I'm guessing the promise was along the lines of "save Natsuki" though whether it means "just from the abduction" or "from anything, ever", and whether both people are on the same page about that...

As for the kiss, in context I really can't enjoy it...
