Happenings at the Final Auditions For the Heroine of GACKT's Play!
MOON SAGA-Yoshitsune Hiden- Chapter 2, the play that is conceived by, written by, produced by and of course starring GACKT held auditions for the role of the heroine Hiyori. “Auditions for the Beautiful Mononoke That Can Steal the Heart of GACKT's Yoshitsune” were held today, May 10th, at SHIBUYA-AX in Tokyo. GACKT and his co-stars Mayo Kawasaki, Hiro Yuumi, Shinnosuke Furumoto and Takaki Uda were the judges for the auditions.
This time, general auditions for the key role of the female heroine were held from March 31st. Twenty-four people battled through the general auditions and today, the final casting for the role of Hiyori was broadcast live on NicoNico.
Many people rushed to the venue to watch the proceedings from the audience and GACKT, Kawasaki, Yuumi and Furumoto appeared on stage. “Today, I truly hope to discover a beautiful Hiyori”, GACKT said from the stage at the start of the auditions.
GACKT watched carefully as the auditionees expressed the three emotions 'sadness, happiness and fear' in front of the judges. The judges met to discuss the auditions and the audience members voted to decide the fifteen auditionees that would proceed to the second round. For the second round, the auditionees had to perform a short scene alongside Furumoto in his role as Benkei Musashibo. The auditionees were expected to improvise and perform without speaking or making any sounds.
After all of the auditions had concluded, GACKT, Kawasaki, Yuumi, Furumoto and Uda once again appeared on stage and the judges gave their praise to the auditionees. Furumoto, who had performed the scene with them, said “everyone, your ability to emote with your eyes was amazing. You've motivated me to work harder”. Uda said “you were expressing the same emotions, but I was impressed by the freshness of your expressions”.
Of the performances in the second round, Yuumi said “I'm deeply moved by the enthusiasm in everyone's performances and I could feel your desire for the role. I have also been greatly motivated by you all.” Kawasaki commented “To be able to convey thoughts and feelings, and to fill a stage without words is the origin of theatre.”
Finally, GACKT gave a general comment. “It's not your ability to perform here and in training, but your potential to give the impression of a playful character that is very important to me. Appearing here and captivating people with an expression and having a casual aura are necessary to Hiyori's childish nature.”
The results of the auditions for the role of Hiyori will be published another day on the MOON SAGA homepage. The judges have a hard decision to make. On facing this challenge GACKT explained “From now, the judges will meet to discuss which auditionee is best suited for the role. I want to create the best play possible for everyone and include the best actors for both Hiyori and other roles. Please, look forward to it.”
MOON SAGA-Yoshitsune Hiden-Chapter 2 begins in Tokyo on August 8th at the Meijiza Theatre and will also be peformed in Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, Hiroshima, Miyagi and Omiya.

So now, we just have to wait to see who gets the role. There were at least three different reporters and even more photographers around, so I suspect that when the actor is announced, there will be more press and photos than this.
