iowa city is really good. its a college town, but the community outside of it is really good. and its fairly small and pretty tight. from what i understand the school system is really awesome. its a really liberal town, particularly the non college part of it. you remind me of somebody who would enjoy iowa city. bad part = housing is like amazingly expensive because its in such high demand. but they have the New Pioneer CO-op which is an organic grocery store, and other such things. the university is a huge employer and they also have a mercy hospital. and cedar rapids is right there, like twenty miles away. are molly and dan living in cedar rapids? is that something that is happening? i have no idea.
iowa city has an amazing comic book store called daydreams. iowa city is all about art and diy culture. it is so much better than ames as far as community goes. it just gets kind of gross with some alpha male alcoholism, but that is also kind of easy to avoid and/or not get involved with. also: shows! and independent movies! the bijou is a university run arthouse theater and its where i saw all the best indies and documentaries. holy s.
