This weather is fantastic. I wish I were home curled up under the blanket with L. Not here at work, mentally ticking off the hours.
If I weren't at such a serious job, I'd go jump in the puddles outside my window on my lunch break. I remember the last time I did that back in college. We played touch football on the flooded fields of campus.
It reminds me of home.
I go on vacation in a week. I'm going somewhere tropical and sunny and I can leave it all behind for a little while. I love travelling, so I'm really looking forward to this. Work lately has been more trying than normal and I'm about to just start hitting people.
Today marks the 7th year of Columbine and the birthday of Hitler. In the wake of other tragedies, I think we should take a moment and reflect on the human condition. People try to pin these tragedies on a certain trait, relgious beleif or interest. The loner. The goth. The socially-akward. The bullied. The misfit. The zealot. But the truth is, almost anyone can snap and become destructive. Even still, some of the worst serial murders were the "nice-guy next door" personalities. If we were to persecute people based on socially "odd" habits, they would have locked me away years ago.
Take a moment of silence out of your day today and reflect. (And take a break, so you don't snap too! :D)
