Dancing dancing, like a madman
in a circle of close friends.
Observant eyes notice you
alone
on the side
motionless.
Your hands deep in your pockets,
eyes down at your toes,
you lean against the wall.
You're so uncomfortable,
so stiff
so quiet
so everything like yourself.
I won't let you be yourself tonight.
I dance across the floor
until I reach your resting place.
"Do you want to dance?"
I almost ask,
but stop myself in time.
You won't want to ,
it's not your style
so instead I begin to move.
When you do too, I know
I just changed someone's night
